What’s the best way to explore the ever-evolving world of DC theater? By bicycle!
The THEATREWASHINGTON TOUR D' DC THEATER is inaugurating this year in a free, community bike ride lead by Theater J Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr that will visit some of the hidden (and not so hidden) gems of the DC theater community. So strap on your bike helmet and explore the breadth and diversity of the DC theater community.
This will be a relaxed-pace, 13 mile ride starting with 9:30am (check-in) to approximately 2pm. We will begin at Studio Theatre (14th & P, NW) and end in the Dupont Circle area. This is a NO DROP RIDE. Please arrive at the ride start location at 9:30am, the ride will depart at 9:45am. Snacks and water will be provided at stops along the route. All riders will check-in and sign a waiver. DETAILS TO FOLLOW ON END LOCATIONS, AND A FULL LIST OF THEATRES WE'LL VISIT.
Participants under 18 years old will need a parent/guardian signature at the time of Check-in on June 30th. Register for this free ride at https://goo.gl/forms/4q2lYYWaxpIj7adL2.
OUR TRIP WILL INCLUDE:
-an exclusive backstage tour of Arena Stage
-a chance to visit Anacostia’s premiere professional theater, Theater Alliance
-a visit to the Capital Fringe space as renovations begin to transform the space into 3 theatres—on the heels of the new festival beginning in SW DC July 7
-a visit with Woolly Mammoth to learn about the cutting edge work they’re doing to connect audiences and art.
It’s the relaxed-pace 13-mile group bicycling ride that Theater J will be leading throughout DC to visit some of the familiar (and less familiar) theaters in the District and to enjoy a nice ride with other theater lovers.
