The annual Source Festival offers full-length and ten-minute plays, plus a range of Artistic Blind Dates, through June 28.

It’s the perfect weekend to engage in the many festivities happening in the Washington area. This week’s thematic roundup features a plethora of shows that welcome audience participation. Whether taking part in festival activities, investigating the assassination of Abraham Lincoln with history’s own Detective McDevitt, or launching a night of improv with your personal prompt, you have a chance to join the action with this unique line-up of performances.

Cross Currents Summer 2015 Festival  | Columbia Festival of the Arts
Founded in 1987, Columbia Festival of the Arts is Howard County’s largest ongoing arts event. Presenting four weekend-long arts festivals throughout the year, both free & ticketed events, featuring world-class performances, exhibitions, concerts, family activities, master classes, workshops & community dialogues.  The Cross Currents 2015 Summer Festival features film, dance, comedy, theatre, art exhibitions, a blend of contemporary artists filled with electrifying performances like the Blind Boys of Alabama, global sensation Pilobolus, the Hot Club of San Francisco: Cinema Vivant, and The Best of The Second City, the legendary sketch and improv group.

Harold Night is WIT's weekly homage to the world-famous longform improv format: the Harold. It all starts with an audience suggestion. From there, WIT’s five Harold teams create unique worlds full of vibrant characters right before your eyes.

Investigation: Detective McDevitt | Ford’s Theatre Society
Join Detective McDevitt as he re-visits and re-examines the sites and clues surrounding the assassination of our nation’s 16th president. This tour occurs rain or shine and lasts approximately two hours. The distance walked is 1.6 miles from outside of Ford’s Theatre to the White House. History on Footwalking tours DO NOT include entrance to Ford’s Theatre. Please wear comfortable shoes.

Source Festival takes place over three weeks in June and features 18 10-Minute Plays, three Full-Length Plays and three Artistic Blind Dates. Nine artists from different creative disciplines collaborate over four months to create an original work. Spurred by a single audience suggestion, WIT’s creative performers spontaneously build entire worlds populated by colorful characters and situations. Please note: Washington Improv Theater strives to ensure its shows are accessible to all audiences at our home stage at Source.
